The flagship distance of Challenge Barcelona 2025 features a fast, scenic route that links the Maresme coastline with a dynamic urban finish in Barcelona
The bike course for the Middle Distance at Challenge Barcelona Triathlon 2025 is now confirmed: an 88 km route that combines the speed of the Maresme coast with a spectacular urban finish inside the city of Barcelona. The course is divided into three segments: a 9 km link section from Barcelona to Montgat, two 32 km laps between Montgat and Mataró, and a final 15 km stretch back into the city, finishing at the CEM La Mar Bella.
After nearly two years of planning and institutional coordination, the organization has delivered a route that is competitive, safe and visually stunning. The race begins at CEM La Mar Bella, the logistical heart of the event, and continues along Avinguda del Litoral, passing through Sant Adrià del Besòs and Badalona before reaching Montgat.
From there, athletes complete two full laps of 32 km along the N-II highway, passing seaside towns such as El Masnou, Premià de Mar, Vilassar de Mar, Cabrera de Mar and Mataró. This section is almost entirely flat and runs parallel to the sea, allowing for fast, smooth riding. The only significant challenge comes in Cabrera de Mar, where athletes tackle an 800 m climb with 34 m of elevation gain, both on the outbound and return legs.
After the two laps, the final 15 km segment brings athletes back to Barcelona via a mix of fast and technical urban roads. They re-enter the city through Badalona and Sant Adrià, and pass by some of the city’s most iconic sights, including the Sagrada Família, before reaching the transition zone to begin the run leg.
This new bike course confirms Challenge Barcelona Triathlon as one of the most attractive middle-distance races on the international calendar, offering speed, safety, and a privileged setting.
