The new edition will bring back the Olympic Distance, maintain the Middle Distance as the main event, and repeat Saturday’s program with the Aquathlon and Open Water races
The Challenge Barcelona Triatló has officially confirmed its 2026 dates: the event will be held on Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25. After the success of the last edition, which gathered nearly 3,000 participants and consolidated the introduction of the Middle Distance, the event will once again turn Barcelona into the international epicenter of triathlon.
Registration will open on Thursday, November 13, 2025, through the official website www.triathlon.barcelona, with limited slots available for each category.
As a major highlight, the new edition brings back the Olympic Distance, one of the most requested formats among triathletes. Its return responds to the demand of the triathlon community and reinforces Barcelona’s position as a city capable of offering challenges for athletes of all levels and profiles.
A sporting event for all levels
The pre-race day on Saturday, October 24, will feature three swim-based events and the Aquathlon:
Aquathlon: 750 m swim and 5 km run.
Open Water 1.9 km: one lap of the Mar Bella coastal circuit.
Open Water 3.8 km: two laps of the same course for long-distance swimming enthusiasts.
On Sunday, October 25, the main triathlon day will take place, featuring four distances open to all athlete profiles:
Middle Distance: 1,900 m swim, 88 km bike (following the course introduced in 2025 between Barcelona and Mataró), and 21 km run.
Olympic Distance: 1,500 m swim, 40 km bike, and 10 km run – ideal for triathletes seeking a balanced challenge of intensity and endurance.
Sprint Distance: 750 m swim, 20 km bike, and 5 km run – the most classic and popular distance of the Challenge Barcelona Triatló.
Junior Challenge: 300 m swim, 7 km bike, and 1.5 km run – designed for young athletes aged 12 to 17.
With this new edition, the Challenge Barcelona Triató reaffirms its commitment to promoting sport and offering an accessible, safe, and inclusive experience for all participants. Barcelona will once again become a global triathlon stage – combining competition, perseverance, and a true passion for sport.
