Triathlon is about self-improvement, discipline, effort, and—above all—community. Guided by this principle, the Challenge Barcelona Triathlon once again reinforces its human and inclusive side by renewing its commitment to the ‘Triathlon Without Borders’ project, an initiative demonstrating that there is room for everyone at the finish line.
This project, now firmly established in the event calendar, has the primary goal of bringing this sport to people with intellectual disabilities, offering them a safe, adapted, and competitive environment where they can enjoy the magic of swimming, cycling, and running.
A collaboration that transforms lives
The success of an initiative of this magnitude would not be possible without the collaborative efforts of committed organizations. The project is made possible through the collaboration of the ACELL Federation – Special Olympics, an institution that contributes its extensive technical expertise and human resources to ensure the adapted event meets the highest standards of quality and sports safety.
Furthermore, the project receives a vital boost thanks to the unwavering support of the “la Caixa” Foundation through CaixaBank; this partnership enables the allocation of essential resources for logistics, athlete preparation, and the creation of a memorable day for all participants.
“Sport has the power to transform society, break down stigmas, and build bridges. ‘Triathlon Without Borders’ is the perfect example of how, when we join forces, there is no limit that cannot be overcome.”
Genuine inclusion on an international stage
Through ‘Triathlon Without Borders,’ athletes from the ACELL Federation – Special Olympics do not merely take part in a parallel activity; they become an integral part of Barcelona’s great sporting celebration, sharing the stage, the race courses, and the crowd’s cheers with triathletes from around the globe. This genuine integration is what makes Challenge Barcelona far more than just a top-tier competition.
The organizing team would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to the ACELL Federation – Special Olympics and the “la Caixa” Foundation—through CaixaBank—for their continued trust. Thank you for believing, once again, that the journey to the finish line is more beautiful when we travel it together, free from barriers.
We look forward to seeing you at the finish line to welcome these great champions as they deserve. Come and experience the thrill of a real triathlon!
